Review: GREAT POCKET PENCIL - I was skeptical at first, but this pencil is a great holder for stubbies. It is very light and easy to hold and well balanced. The pencil writes very smooth. It is held in the bullet end very tightly. A downside is the refills are a little pricy. I am using it all the time and am running through my refill box rather quickly. If you can find round pencils and cut them down will work. If you have to use a hex pencil scrape the hex edges to round off the pencil it should be fine. just be careful not to bend the holder. The brass turns to a tarnished look which I like. If you like the shiny brass, you will need to polish it from time to time. The eraser is rather large, but it is very soft and works well. I was surprised how well it did work so well. Hope you like yours as well as I do mine. Mark

That's why I was so intrigued by this Traveler's pencil. No mechanical parts!! Instead, it makes use of what I think of as a "scorekeeping" pencil, the kind you use to keep score when bowling or playing golf. The one provided has a hard lead so you can get a good, clear line. It's also easy to sharpen. A soft-ish pink eraser is provided. A replacement pack of a couple of pencils plus an eraser is available for a rather steep price. A better idea is to order the short pencils, which are pennies apiece. I plan to order replacement erasers only when. necessary. This partners up into a handsome set with the Traveler's brass pen.

**Q: Does it hold a standard size (except for length) pencil? Interested in being able to change up the lead with various H, B, and wash leads.**
A: The pencil used in these holders will be short -- a stub of one of your favorite pencils.  Of course this pencil holder is made for a round pencil, but simply wrap the un-sharpened end of your favorite pencil stub, hexagonal or round doesn't matter, with some scotch tape - it doesn't take much - and it will be held just fine.  So yes, just about any standard sized hexagonal or round pencil can be fit to this holder.  I do it all the time.

**Q: Can standard pencils cut down be used to refill?**
A: yes

**Q: Does it come with a pencil?**
A: Yes. It has s very nice cedar wood pencil.  It is a very nice writing lead also

**Q: Does it fits the Palomino Blackwind pencils?  The Blackwind pencilsare not round, but exagonal.  Thanks in advance**
A: Depends on the circumference of the pencil.

Very nice. I took the advice of some previous reviewers and applied Thread locker to prevent the cap from backing out. I think I can modify a normal sized pencil with electrical tape to make it fit. Not sure about the eraser.
