Is this normal?** A: I just looked at mine and there is a slight bulge just right of center on the front - hadn't noticed it. Doesn't seem dented or anything - maybe just a little bulge to accommodate the cooling compressor. FYI - I have made almost 50 quarts of ice cream with no problems what-so-ever. You only need to put in about 3 cups of mix as the volume expands as it mixes and freezes. It will NOT freeze solid. When it gets stiff and barely turns, you need to shut it off - scrape the dasher and bannister into another container - I use quart size cardboard containers - and put in your freezer to finish the freezing process. **Q: Does it have a cooling compressor so I dont have to freeze the container?** A: The unit contains a compressor that freezes the mixture and does not require to freeze the bowl prior to use. We mixed for about 1 hour and it was a smooth, creamy consistency and light and fluffy because it was all heavy cream. The cooling feature kept it cool while we had our main dish and then it was ready to eat for dessert. Easy to clean, took the mixing bowl and paddle out, rinsed and placed in the dishwasher and they came out clean, parts are dishwasher safe.
