It wears on your wheels everytime you use it tho so you could kiss your trear goodbye and it's a slow gradual stop. Plus it puts you in somewhat of a awkward stance so depending on how gnarly of a all terrain hill your on you could have some issues. I'm not happy I purchased this item, even less happy I purchased it from Black Diamond Sports. When I wanted to return it I had to proove I installed it correctly by sending photos, and defend myself for wanting to return this piece of junk. I've been skateboarding since the 1970's I think I can handle installing their little device. The metal is very lightweight and does not come with additional hardware to accommodate the fact that the baseplate is thick enough it will require new bolts. Poorly built and designed plus it does not work. I was hoping it was something my kid could use but I would never trust this device to stop if it really needed to.
