After I read it through the first time, I realized it was the story of our journey with our little girl, who is now 2 years old. We did not expect to be asked to foster a baby, and we never dreamed she was the answer to all of the prayers we didn’t even know to pray. I related to each of the mommy animals, who all comfort their “baby” in different ways. Each example reminds me of a step we took in the fostering process. We bathed her with such care and gave her “milk” when she was hungry. It’s funny because I was so clueless that I bought incredibly expensive items, like a instant formula mixer, to help make her comfortable. When the mommy runs home to make her baby a cozy den, I can feel tears as I think back to getting her crib and turning the guest room into a nursery so she would have a home. The vacations are the warm spots so she can see the world. Each page is so meaningful to me. It all leads to the absolute answer—we got everything together to bring her to our home as quickly as possible—just going on faith and prayer—and the answer is she is our baby and this is her home. All of the pieces came together to give us the honor of being her parents and knowing she truly is ours.
