After reading other reviews I was pretty sure the boots would run small. I normally wear an exact 8.5, I ordered a 9. The foot parts fits almost perfectly, it's just a TINY bit too large (so they aren't really 9s, more like roomy 8.5s).The calves of the boots are SUPER tight, I've never had a problem with other knee-high boots fitting. I had to flip on my back with my foot up in the air to stretch my calves flat enough to wiggle the zipper down the boots and I was afraid I'd tear them. (The material feels thin) I wore them for about 10 minutes and got a leg cramp from the squeeze. I wore them again a few days later while I was trying to figure out if I should return them. They went on easier and didn't cause any pain. A third wearing for 1 hour was fine. I think they stretch with wear. I am keeping the boots and after the initial panic that they didn't fit, they are fine and I am happy. But if you have large calves at all, these would be awful boots for you.I've been storing them with crumpled newspaper shoved in the legs, to help them slowly stretch. That seems to be working.The heels aren't too high and are very comfortable to wear. I normally wear flats, and these heels are easy to walk in. The ankles, knees and thigh areas of the boots are also fairly loose. My only complaint is they are not meant for girls with bigger thighs or legs. I bought a size 8 But I'm a size 7 1/2 or 7 sometimes. They are kind of big on the foot I would have gotten a size 7 but I dont think they would have got my thighs at all. Overall they are good. Just push them down instead of wearing them way above the knee. Yeah they go like a good 8 inches past the knee if you're short. I'm 5"4 average size usually wear a small or medium. But on pants I'm bigger. So I guess it's just my build. I always have problems with boots on my legs so that's just a struggle.
