The book isn’t so long that it couldn’t all be read in one sitting, but it would take longer than normal bedtime stories. Our 4yr old likes to practice her reading with it since she has had it read to her so many times and has watched the movie plenty. It is a little complex for new/beginning readers to read solo though. Shipping took a long time, but it was worth the wait! The kids love it and it is a great addition to our Totoro book. I got this book for her because she loves to read and wanted a Kiki book to take with her to school and on sleepovers. This is absolutely beautiful and follows the movie nearly exactly. Has all her favorite shots.
