Connect a hose to the bottom of the tank and open valve to drain about a 1/3 of the tank. Make sure you open a hot water tap in the house to allow for air flow in the tank. Once partially drained, remove the old TPR and replace. Use teflon tape on threads (this one comes with it pre-applied). Turn water back on and make sure you have all air out of the tank by opening all hot water taps in the house and running them until free of air. Close hot water taps, turn gas valve back on and set thermostat to desired temp. Turn on electric and enjoy a leak free tank.
