I thought I could just grab the handle and remove it from the bubble wrap. I didn't know there was sticky material holding the blade to the bubble wrap, so when I pulled on the handle it separated from the blade. I like the length of the blade and the price was right, so I'm going to keep the item. I see there is a small hole in the tang that's supposed to hold the handle to the tang, maybe that should be a little larger.
