You are also right that top grain and full grain aren't the same. Do a google search for "top grain vs full grain leather". Chrome-tanned leather is also real leather, but it can't be tooled, wet-molded, or edge-burnished. There are also different types of veg tans and chrome tans, so do some research to figure out what kind of leather you need to suit your needs. Also, if you want 100% leather, stay away from anything that says "genuine leather," which is often bonded. Bonded leather is another key phrase to help you in your research.
