Usually we keep our coop door locked up at night, but the chickens had--to their own detriment--pecked through the wire on their automatic coop door closer, so they were unprotected one night unbeknownst to us. But the attack also happened early morning, after the sun came up, is when some mama foxes like to hunt in the spring when they have kits to feed. So we lost a couple chickens.Then my husband remembered his parents, who have a legit farm in rural Colorado, had a coyote attack once, then they installed these predator eyes and never again lost another chicken. So we figured, what the heck, might as well beef up our security. We also have dogs who would usually bark off a predator, but sometimes we're out of town or who knows what. Better safe than sorry.These predator lights were easy to install, they work just as described, and we haven't had any 'coons or foxes since. I installed four of them according to instructions in strategic areas around my two chicken houses and made sure that they worked. They did. Scary predator eyes blinked on and off. Expecting our unwelcome visitors to pack their little suitcases and move to a more hospitable location, I settled down for a good night’s rest.The next morning, I found Clementine’s feathers in the chicken area, along with several egg shells. No sign of Clementine.The next night, I stayed awake and watched from my second story porch. Before long, here came the skunk family. Two of the very adorable little skunks noticed the predator eyes and sat down in front of them and began to chatter. They were so excited to meet a new friend!Clearly, I misunderstood the product description.
