These are working great, I used them to install a mantle over my fireplace. My contractor told me I could have just glued it to the top of the brickwork but I wanted it extra sturdy. These deliver! I might not do this for a really big, heavy mantle without the extra support of the brick below it (I'm more worried about the 50 year old studs in my walls than this product) but for my use case and the relatively light piece of wood I used, it works fantastic. Maybe get 2 sets if you are hanging something really heavy. I planned on gluing the wood to these brackets and to the brick below but I don't think it's fully necessary. I kinda like the idea of maybe swapping out the piece of wood if I get bored of this one.Make sure you have a nice 13/16" auger bit and/or the right equipment (and knowhow?) to drill the holes, I had a heck of a time drilling the holes in the back side of the mantle but I think that's mostly on me.10/10 would purchase again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent heavy duty brackets but tricky to align *by R***4 on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on January 21, 2020* Ordered 4 supports for a 8 foot long, 9" wide, 2" thick poplar board. The supports work great and and I could have used only 3 supports and it would have been just as sturdy. The installation of the supports was was easy and straightforward. I attached the supports directly to the studs by cutting away the drywall as recommended. Transferring those locations to the shelf was tricky. I used a different drill bit guide to drill the holes in the shelf because I thought I had a 3/4" bit already but I did not so it would have been cheaper and easier to buy the one recommended with these supports. I also didn't have a 6" long 3/4" drill bit but I have an 3/4" flexible auger bit (3 feet long) which gave me the extra depth needed for the supports. For my long shelf it was difficult to line up the supports to the back of the shelf since there is little to no clearance from the 3/4" drill bit in addition to supports not aligning straight with the studs. Even after loosening the supports to allow them to align themselves the shelf was difficult to slip over the supports. I tried mounting the shelf with 2 supports and it was much easier to slip the shelf on and off but it had a little too much give in the middle due to being unsupported. Adding in the additional 2 supports made the shelf much sturdier but greatly increased the difficulty aligning everything.
