Hopefully not China - I don't want to patronize those criminals. **Q: Can I put my hot coffee on it?** A: The material does not appear to be either stain resistant or immune to melting (if the temperature was high enough). If you drink really hot coffee and allow coffee to accumulate on the bottom of your cup then you will likely leave a "coffee ring" on this mat. I use a coaster to ensure this doesn't happen. **Q: can you machine wash the product?** A: Hi Dustin, It is recommended to wipe clean with a damp cloth. **Q: Is it firm enough to write on top of?** A: No. It’s the same style as a traditional mousepad. Woven nylon on top with a thin neoprene base. I do like mine as opposed to just a mousepad, better.
