I was getting about 10 feet of scratchy range on my bluetooth headphones so I bought this adapter. Installation was easy but making it work was a challenge. At first I disabled the driver and native bluetooth adapter and installed this one and the new driver and it worked... until I rebooted. The old adapter and driver reinstalled, conflicted with this one and I had no or unreliable connection. I almost returned this adapter in frustration. However, I took a deep breath and opened my computer case and went looking for something that might be the built-in. Behind the hard drive and CD drive I found it, a WLAN chip with 2 antenna wires attached. I removed the chip from it's socket and restarted the computer. NO bluetooth (and no WiFi). I plugged in the adapter, installed the driver from the CD and rebooted and my bluetooth devices started working. I can now walk outside, 50 ft away, and still have sound on my bluetooth earphones. I no longer have WiFi but I do have hard wired ethernet so I don't need it. If you need WiFi, be sure to purchase an adapter that has both. So, in my case I had to physically disconnect my built in radio before I could get this adapter to work. I suspect you will as well if you have one. However, I am now 5 star happy with my bluetooth! Review: Plug and Play with HomeAssistant and amazing range - Swapped out an old BT4 dongle (with internal antenna) to this BT5 dongle and supplemented a 2.4GHz antenna I had lying around, and now HomeAssistant reliably gets BT beacons from anywhere in the house. This is a huge step up from the BT4 stuff I was using before. Can't recommend it enough.
