It remembers which flashing pattern and color you last used, so you only have to flip the power switch if you always use the same settings. Cons: The led bars are water resistant, they are not water proof. These work best if you mount them inside your vehicle or inside a water proof enclosure. Basic wiring info: The power switch & button are not backlit for nighttime use, so plan accordingly. The wires are long, but the odds are that you will need to add an extension between the power switch and first light bar. There are 3 wires that run to the first and then to the second light bar: a hot, a ground, and a control. The hot carries about 1 amp / +12vdc and the control carries about +4vdc. When you press the control button, it shorts the control wire to the ground wire, which causes the control modules in the light bars to change the flashing pattern. Hold down the control button for 3 to 5 seconds to change the color. Some people forget this important detail or never see it in the instructions.
