Review: Nook Color Charging Cable replacement - well, like many, many others, my Nook Color charging cable gave out and I needed a replacement. After searching for a replacement I found that the Barnes and Noble replacement cable had very low reviews. Also, I had noticed from the beginning, that my original cable seemed to have a rather loose feel when connected to my Nook. I have the AFN on my Nook Color and I have one that will not boot to Android unless it is plugged in. I almost always run it in the Android mode, and one morning I discovered that it was not on the Android. When I tried to reboot it, even tho it was plugged in, it would not boot to Android. After inspecting connections I discovered green corrosion on the Nook end of the charging cable; indicative of a loose connection. Apparently the Nook could still charge (tho somewhat slower rate I am sure, than normal), but it was losing enough power drop thru the poor connection that it would not boot to Android. I tried to clean up the original connector, but it never got good enough to boot into Android, and still, there was that sloppy feel to it. Like mentioned before, the B & N replacement cables have gotten very poor reviews, so I looked deeper. When I use my Nook in bed or sitting, with the charging cable plugged into it, the cable is bent oddly against me because it comes out the bottom of the Nook, and so it becomes cramped around at a bad angle, I am sure, further stressing the connection at the Nook that isn't very tight anyway. I came across this item and found that with the angled end, it relieves the stress at the back of the connection, actually tends to push the connector into the device. I got the "Left-hand angle" because my power source for the cord is to the left of me, but you can choose which side you want it to angle to, and there are also length choices. This has a very good tight connection to my Nook, which is imperative for best electrical properties. I think this is a great product and something Barnes and Noble should look into for their own betterment. The only drawback is that, of course, it does not have that nice "N" lit up showing you that it is charging/charged. But, as soon as you start your Nook or look at it, you can determine that anyway. Again, I have the Nook Color tablet, so not sure what other Nooks this may fit, as I have read that all the cables for Nooks are not the same. UPDATE: Just a note as to the longevity of this cable; I have been using this for a year now and am still very satisfied with it. I have had no problems with it.
Review: Nice and thin. Plug fits tightly into port - Updated - While this is not a problem with my phone, the straight (and short) OEM cables interfere with my hands when operating my tablets while they are charging. This quality cable rectifies this problem. NOTE: the plug fits REALLY tight. A great value. Make sure that you order the right angle (I didn't and bought right-angle versions). You want the cable pointing in the right direction (e.g.: down instead of up on tablets with port on the side). Update: When using this cable while charging/using a 11" Lenovo Lynx tablet, I get an odd error message that says that the power drawer exceeds charging input. Note that this cable is comparatively thin and I suspect that this restricts the cable's ability to provide full charging current. I also did not get this message when I used other cables that turned out to be thicker as well. Finally, the cable works find with my Google Nexus 7 tablet. This means that it should work fine with any mobile device that has a 7" screen or less.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What gauge is the wire? is this 28/28 or 28/24? Gauge can impact charging rates.**
A: 28/28 and charging is VERY SLOW (Lenovo IdeaTab K30011W_F). Data transfer rate is OK

**Q: I need a full 6" length (not including the metal plug at each end). What is the total length measured end to end? Thanks!**
A: Do any of you realize that you keep talking about 6" which means (6 inches). You need to be using 6' which means (6 feet). ( " ) = inches, ( ' ) = feet. Not using the proper character makes all of your comments confusing. Or Amazon is mistakenly adding comments for the 6" (6 inch) cable to the 6' (6 foot) version of the product. If that is the case, Amazon needs better comment editors for the comment section for the items they advertise/sell.

**Q: What wire size (awg) is this cable?**
A: 28 gauge. Cable says: "28AWG/2C High Speed USB2.0 Cable A ROHS Compliant"

**Q: Love these cables for the low stress on the phones... but with regards to slow charging, do any owners have alternative recommendations?**
A: As long as I use the fast charge capable block that came with my phone, the 6ft cord I bought fast charges my note 5 every time

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent cabe capable of handing sufficient power to charge most devices
*by S***G on March 12, 2016*

Works great and WILL deliver more than 1.0 Amp. You can NEVER use an app on a smart device to test current limits because these devices have many many controls and loads which artificially limit or add drain to charging current. Current is not the only factor too, there is voltage and voltage drop in the cable. On my standardized test bench (yes I am an Electrical Engineer) with a regulated 5 volt 2.1 Amp limited power source I measured up to 1.65 amps before the voltage dropped below 4.75 volts which is where I estimate the average minimum voltage cutoff of most devices in my experience. That is a maximum power carrying ability of 7.8 watts, more than enough to charge most tablets. Every device has it's own thresholds where it will cut off charging power (volt times amps equals watts which is a measure of net power) when it gets too low. That is POWER not amps. Amps alone means nothing. You can deliver 20 amps to a smart device but if the voltage isn't sufficient it will cut off the charge power. If you are unable to charge a device which requires 1.5 amps, this cable is not the single problem. It may not charge it as quickly as some other cables (look for "high speed charge" not "high speed data transfer" cables) but it will generally charge most tablets requiring 1.5 amps. As long as they do not have any additional charge control wires in the cables like Apple uses.
