Ball jars ???? thanks for your time John** A: Yes, this will hold (7) 1/2 Gallon Ball Jars easily, and that is with the included rack in the canner, and lid on it. Like the others had commented, I do not think that you can get an inch of water over the jars, although in my experience you dont really need it, and funny how ball makes the jars, but gives no recipies for using these large jars! I'm sure the jars will still seal even if they are not completely covered. I would not recommend trying to move it while it is full though! There are no handles, and I do not use mine in the house, I use it in the garage over a propane stove.
