One 16.9 ounce bottled of water produces about 45 pellets. (9 to 18 is plenty for a cold drink.) Used correctly you just pour water in, choose small or large ice, then turn it off and unplug it after you have the Ice that you want. It uses very little electricity. If you make more ice than you need and leave it in this ice maker even though it will still be on the ice will just melt it's not a great place to store ice.
