The Morakniv Craftline Basic 511 Utility Knife features a 3.6-inch fixed blade made of high carbon steel for high hardness, easy sharpening, and exceptional toughness. **Q: Is this a good wood carving knife? Like could I carved spoons with it?**
A: Absolutely!  The earlier version of this was my go-to carving knife for a long time, and I still use it occasionally.  Understand that the “bowl” of the spoon is easier to carve with a hook knife (or similar, ie “scorp”, etc).  It will do a great job of general shaping, and a passable job of carving the bowl.

**Q: What's the difference between this and the Craftline Pro C?**
A: I think the craftline has a rubbery insert in the handle, 5.11 is solid plastic

**Q: Is there a recommended oil for this?  I'm going to use it for backpacking purposes like cutting small branches and removing bark.**
A: You can cold blue the blade using Permablue paste. Won't completely stop rust, but slows it down. You'll still need to oil the blade, esp the cutting edge, as it won't be blued. Have been using vegetable oil, but am switching to food grade mineral oil. NEVER had a rust issue until I moved to Houston.

**Q: What is the blade thickness in fractions or decimal please, NOT metric?**
A: The 2mm blade is approx 1/12 in (0.787 in). The 3.2mm blade is approx 1/8 in (0.12598 in). You can put a good scientific calculator with built-in unit converter on your smartphone.

Me gusta mucho este cuchillo porque es muy barato y tiene un excelente filo. Su agarre no es el más cómodo pero tampoco para nada incómodo, puedes trabajar con el un buen rato sin que te moleste.El único inconveniente que veo es que el lomo no puede rascar un ferrocereo, tienes que usar el filo y se quema un poco pero un truco que descubrí es pasarle una bolita de aluminio para “pulirlo” y queda como nuevo. Sin duda para su reducido precio es un gran cuchillo. La verdad es que si quieres aprender algo, o talvez sales a acampar mucho, por ejemplo puede que tengas varios kit y para no gastar un dineral en un cuchillo para cada kit, este cuchillo es perfecto. Es de un precio muy reducido, sobre todo si eliges los colores baratos, un gran filo, viene con una funda simple pero útil y tiene buenos materiales.
