Why is this a great featire?** A: It refers to polar or pick-up pattern of the mic or rather which side of the mic is most sensitive. Cardioid means it picks up from the front of the mic. Omnidirectional means it picks up from all around the mic (360 degrees). This supercardioid means the mic picks up from a slightly more narrow field (or cone) in front of the mic.
