I haven't had a single issue with the wipes drying out or looking or smelling burnt due to lack of moisture within the unit. The only issue I have (which is purely cosmetic) is the pillow staining if it happens to get drier than expected. To ensure bacteria growth is inhibited as much as possible, I add a few drops of tea tree oil to the pillow before adding it to the case.
