Interesting that when you merely open the doors, the headlamps do come on, which in the original switch they wouldn't come on until you actually moved the switch to on. They were not associated with the door being opened. One thing of note. It has positions for fog and parking lights. I dont know if this one is defective, but i can't move the switch to either of those positions. I don't have fog lights to begin with so its not a problem for me. But I would like to have the ability to put my parking lights on at times, but its not a deal breaker. It's not quite as robust as the OEM but I didn't expect it to, compared to OEM prices. Finally, my car came with a rather heavy brushed satin trim on the switch. This one is a thin strip of chrome. Hardly noticeable as it being different. That too is not a concern as long as it works. Update. Rufus says this is not compatible with the 2012-2019 Beetle. That's incorrect. Pull your oem switch first to find out if it's a round housing or a rectangular one.
