A picture is worth a thousand words but ill try to do it with less words than that. mount the device at the top of the tank, if the tank is full the float is up and the circuit is open...(In my case the alert light is off) . If the water level drops, the float drops and the circuit is closed and my alert light is on **Q: What is the length of the leads on this switch?** A: I didnt measure the leads, but Id say 8" **Q: what is the "closed" position (aka circuit continuity)?** A: When the tank is full continuity is open or broken, when the tank is low continuity is closed or made.
