The weight is just under 630g and admittedly still feels very light, retaining that ease for carrying on camping, hiking or days out whatever you want to view. The clarity is impeccable and really does bring out those excellent colours with the HD built in. I'd say these are very ergonomic to hold and have that real robustness to them, not to mention they have a 10 year warranty giving you peace of mind. The lens caps are high quality and provide great protection when not in use. My only con with these binoculars is the strap that comes with them could be better quality as it rubs your neck a bit. When comparing to other brands such as swarovski and hawke they really do hold up and are great value for money. I'd recommend these monarchs to anyone even if your a beginner, intermediate or seasoned pro they are allrounded. I am a photographer with a love of nature as opposed to an out and out birder, so I needed something decent but didn't need the best. As you go up the price range there is a law of diminishing returns for your ££s. These M5s seem to be perfect for me. Nice wide field of view, clear good quality optics.
