## Description

Vetrx Poultry Aid, 2 fl.oz

Review: Bought for Chickens - Great for Cats! - I've been using this product for our Chickens for the summer if they show signs of sneezing - more as a preventative. BUT it's really shown that it works wonders when my indoor cat was showing signs of a sever upper respiratory issue. She had a very stuffy nose and slight wheezing. Quick google search told me it was safe when used as directed so I gave it a go. Instead of putting drops in her nose I chose to put it on a paper towel and wipe it on her nose. Within an hour her crusted shut nose was draining and she was no longer a mouth breather. Worth every penny and will be a staple in the house for pets.
Review: This Works and Super Easy to Use - I live in France and am new to raising chickens. Of my 3 layers, one developed a sharp bark shortly after arrival. I didn't know if it was her natural cluck, a respiratory ailment , or something caught in her throat but foolishly, I let this go on for a number of months, during which time, I felt her comb became lighter and her body thinner. I’m not sure if I was imagining her decline, but I was very worried. In desperation, after much research, I bought Poultry RX from the states, as I haven't been able to find it here. It’s a very small bottle (2oz isn’t much) but it’s ideal because I was able to have someone bring it to me in their hand luggage. The hardest part to applying it, was learning to catch and hold a chicken (lots of info on the net). However, once done, the RX is incredibly easy to use. I get the bottle open and put it down, catch the chicken, pick her up holding her wings down, put some on my finger, rub it on her beak, and wipe my finger off on her feathers. She actually seems to like the taste. No objection whatsoever. I also add a drop to the chicken water and swirl it around. I’m not faithful about the application – only every two days or so. The day after the first application, I had the sense that although she was still barking she was also moaning a bit - the favorite sound of my other chickens. Another few days, and I definitely heard a chicken sound or two. Now, after two weeks, she sounds like a chicken all the time and she has given up her barking! I am thrilled. The bottle is still almost full but I am buying another one now, so I am never out of it. This is a great product for a chicken novice. I wasn’t worried that I’d poison my chicken, no antibiotics, no chicken handling skills required, inexpensive, wasn’t worried about eating the eggs… no downside.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do i apply it for scaly leg mites?**
A: For leg mites on chickens, we use vaseline petroleum jelly and for our chickens who have persistent mites we use Vicks brand. After 2 or three treatments you should notice an improvement. Also, cover their legs thoroughly but not do not over do it. Our chickens have never been affected negatively in any way. Only 3 of our chickens have had trouble with mites and they are all our Bantams that we purchased already grown. Vaseline is safe for animals and we give it to our dogs from time to time to help clear hairballs from their throats. We add the VetRx to our chickens water and as the bottle says, it is safe for daily use as a preventative. We had a couple of our chickens we had to isolate with coughs and after a week they got better! The VetRx is a completely natural product derived from healthful plants and can be used both internally and externally and is formulated for chickens, geese and ducks. We keep this in our stock for our 30 chickens as well as other vital health products. Also, I recommend diatomaceous earth can be used to preventand kill these pest from your flock. Place a good amount in areas where your flock likes to dust themselves and leave some in trays. You can shake this over them to dust it directly onto them and also around their bedding as a safe way to kill mites before they get onto your chickens, ducks or turkeys.

**Q: How much do you use per chicken?**
A: Depends on what you are using it for. A drop in the nose for a few days should help with minor respiratory issues like sneezing or you could put a couple drops into the birds water to help with just about everything else (mites, etc). Also, if you find giving nasal drops a problem you can always put a drop or two under the wing. I'm not a vet or a poultry expert by any means but been raising and doctoring chickens for years. Good luck! Janice

**Q: Does it work for ducks eyes?**
A: Ducks are on the label but only for respiratory function

**Q: Does this work on Quail?**
A: We have used it on quail that are having respiratory issues or congestion. Rub on eyes and nose

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Trusted Staple in Our Chicken First Aid Kit!
*by J***Y on June 9, 2025*

We’ve been raising backyard chickens for a few years now, and VetRx Poultry Aid has become one of our go-to products whenever our flock shows signs of respiratory issues. A few weeks ago, one of our hens started sneezing and sounded congested—we added a few drops of VetRx to her water and applied a bit under her wings and beak as directed. Within a couple of days, we saw a noticeable improvement! What I really appreciate is that it’s made with natural ingredients and has a comforting herbal scent. It’s gentle but effective, and our birds tolerate it well. It also works great for general support during seasonal changes or stressful times, like after moving the flock or introducing new birds. Highly recommend VetRx to any poultry owner—it’s a small bottle, but it lasts a long time and really does the job. Peace of mind in a bottle!
