Can get lid off with one hand which was important to me. Haven't noticed any smell. Filter got a little yucky and was easily cleaned. Used the spare filter while the cleaned one dried. I like that you can lift the inner bucket out to dump. It's easy to clean. One negative is the the bucket handle has some rust starting where it connects to the bucket. Not a huge concern.
