I would have never known it was previously used if not alerted to the fact. This approach represents a savings, plus the practicality of not having to suffer early failure of consumer electronics. By the way, the blink system works wonderfully well. I have been extremely surprised that these stand-alone cameras are powered by non-rechargeable lithium batteries that last a long time in operation.
