It's the latest version as far as I know - 2016. For the price you won't beat it for all the games it has built in. It's about 100 total, then the rest are just different versions of the same game - totaling 12000. The instructions are pretty lame, but as far as I can tell, the main controller has a cartridge slot that looks like it will take any NES classic game cartridge. Totally cool, if it works. But I will probably get a cartridge and try it out sometime. The controllers seem to work ok. I haven't tried the light gun yet for the shooting games, but I don't think it will work on the new LED TV's based on other reviews I've seen on Youtube. The other small issue I have is that the reset button works when it wants too. It could be just my unit, but I just cycle the power switch to get back to the main menu as the alternative. You also don't get a choice of unit color, but I don't mind any of the 3 colors they send you. Overall, you can either buy this for less then 25 dollars or pay 50+ for the nintendo classic retro console that only has 30 games built in.
