    So worth the money!

The roller more than paid for itself with the effective self massage I was able to do with it.  I had chronic tissue pains in my hip and back that were not getting better with other approaches (rest, exercise, stretching) and after a few massage sessions with the roller I was better.  I can't tell you how happy I am about that.  Though it is quite painful to slowly do the massage needed it really worked for me (note that I followed the guidance from a book on what massage moves I should do, not the videos).  I got the videos because I can always do more core work and these exercises are challenging.  I have only done level 2 since it is the right level for me.  There are two 16 min workouts to choose from at that level.  It comes with an instruction on how to do the exercises in the workout.  The workout is just that, pushups, crunches, planks, bridges, etc all using the roller (which provides a stability challenge or adds to the function of the exercise).  When I use the video and roller: I usually do cardio, one of the 16 min workouts from the level 2 video, and then go through several self-massage moves with the roller.

I had high hopes because of the reviews.  The roller is good - I wish that it was about 6 inches wider. The core exercises are very good -and can really work on your core more than most DVD;s I have used. The initial instruction on the 3 DVD's is the same.  And once you get to the exercise segments there is no instruction on placement or alternatives.  The music is the same throughout and becomes quite boring.What I was really hoping for was more leg work and massage.  For jogging and working out some of the sore spots of IT band, glutes, interior muscles etc - there is very little help.  I was expecting more instruction on trigger point massage along with strengthening..What was done in 3 DVD's could have been done in one.  The intro on each of the 3 DVD's is the same.  It is only the level of intensity that changes.The level of intensity is good - however three DVD's with the same music and instruction is quite boring. If I had paid for one DVD and the roller it would have been an ok purchase -  combined into one DVD with roller would have been a better investmentAll and all not worth the $72.

Rolling can be very painful at first.  I recommend doing this no longer than 30 sec to 1 min each leg or area of the leg at first.  It does get easier in time.  Rolling on a regular basis eases my muscle tension and pain.  I have fought shin splints and plantar faciitis for a couple of years now.  The small ball is great for loosening the arches of the feet.  As with rolling the legs, it may seem slightly uncomfortable at first, but gets better and easier as your muscle loosen up. I think this is a great package and a great way to help with minor injuries and increased flexibility.
