## Description

Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, while navigating the lavish world of France and challenges that weigh on the very fabric of their relationship.

Review: A redeeming season (after a disappointing season 1 part 2) - Oh my. I was addicted to Outlander season one part one, and HAD to buy part two, only to be disappointed. It was not as good (especially the male rape part). So when the show was going into a second season I had mixed feelings. Should I give up on it? Should I keep watching to see if it gets better? The thing I liked most about the show were the scenes in Scotland with all of the Highlander characters like Dugal, Rupert, Angus, Collum...they were such a great ensemble. But season 2 begins with Jamie and Claire setting sail for France. Only Murtagh joins them. How could that be good? I wasn't too excited about it. BUT...let me tell those who are doubtful about the change of scenery...it is NOT forever. Claire and Jamie do return to Scotland. Many of our old Highlander friends are back. And (SPOILER ALERT) we do get to see Frank Randall again. I wondered when he would show up and when we'd be back in the 1940's when Claire disappeared. Finally! Some loose ends are tied up. The scenes in France are interesting. Several old friends/enemies show up there where we least expected to see them, so it's not all a new cast of characters, although there are many new faces. Speaking of new faces, in this season we get to meet Claire's daughter and adorable Roger Wakefield (who was being raised by the Reverend Wakefield) all grown up. Oh he is adorable. I am glad he will be a big part of season 3! Such a cutie! The best thing about this season is the last episode. I won't give anything away but I will tell you I cried a ton. I had a headache all day from how much I cried. What an awesome and powerful episode it was! Too bad we have to wait so long for season 3 which is only now in production!
Review: Great Historical Epic - For what it is the Outlander tv series is pretty darn good. Like many premium shows these days, the production value is just amazing, it's like watching a feature film. The costumes are great and I constantly find myself gawking at the natural scenery. As a reader of the books, there are always a few things I'm disappointed in that either get scrapped or changed to fit tv, but generally all the memorable events are included and I have to say a few elements and casting choices end up better than I imagined. I am definitely a historical fiction buff so I gravitate to that type of material for entertainment. This show has a nice balance of intimate and epic storylines and I find myself caring for the characters more than in some other shows. The special features are always interesting and my favorite is the podcast of each episode where the producers/writers provide behind the scenes insight into the episode.
