Technically, the spreader holds 2.7 cubic feet. However, those bags are packed tight! Once you start unloading the bag and it breaks up a bit, it expands. Want thicker spread, then use multiple passes for until thicker coverage meets desired coverage. **Q: How much peat moss can this hold at a time? They sell large, 5.5 cubic foot bags where I live.** A: My 24-inch wide Landzie spreader holds half a 3-cubic foot bag of peat moss, with enough headroom left to tumble the contents. **Q: Could i use this to screen topsoil while applying it over new grass seed?** A: Yes.
