Review: When I worked in the hospital this was called a "fracture pan." It is not a full sized pan so it does not hold the volume that a full-sized pan would. The purpose of this type of pan is for comfort, hence that is why it is thinner. Perfect in some cases, not big enough in others. Caregivers have to chose based on the clients' needs. This pan is perfect for our needs, it is large and sturdy enough to use on an average sized person.
