It will read ac and dc amps down to a resolution of single digit milliamps (mA). I chose this clamp meter for this low resolution read ability for off key parasitic drain I was having. Make sure to zero out the meter just before clamping, as even rotating meter will cause a slight reading due to magnetic field. **Q: Is this good enough to use for low milliamperes parasitic drain in automotive use?** A: yes, it's a pretty good meter. I have had no complaints in using it, though my loads are more in the 3-30 amp range.
