Review: 10 PORT USB HUB REVIEW - Works well with most usb powered devices, including lighting and usb charging. However, not all external hard drives will work if plugged in to this device as they will not be recognised. If this happens, unplug the hard drive and plug it back in again and it will usually work. If not, you will need to to plug it directly into the usb port on your device. The same process may be needed when connecting usb SSD drives.
Review: An unusual hub - but a real winner - First off - I actually bought and paid for this product - it's not a paid review. The principal reason for choosing this hub was the 4 switches. With security in mind I have my 2 external hard-drives paired with matching backups. I was hoping that being able to switch off a port would mean less plugging/unplugging when making copies - and I am delighted to say that this has been well proven by experience. I can now keep all the drives physically connected, but the backup drives switched off until needed - they cannot be infected if I get hit by an external attack. I was concerned at first that all it would do was switch off the power supply, and potentially leave the drives data-connected. That does not seem to be the case as Windows does not recognise a drive when the switch is 'off'. Also NOTE carefully that you should dismount or eject a drive BEFORE switching it off (otherwise the cache may not be flushed). I have tested the hub with all four drives running at the same time and have had no problems with significant slowdown. No data has been dropped and no mysterious disconnections either. This is the most USB-3 compatible of all the hubs I have encountered. Having power and data cables emerge at one end is a plus, as it leaves the 5th (Power only) connector clear and accessible at the other end. I have only used this charging port once but it seems to be able to charge my Samsung smartphone without problem. I don't know how high the max current is so cannot comment on suitability for charging larger items such as tablets. I believe in stating the negative as well however - The blue lights are rather strong and tend to 'bleed' across the unit. Sometimes you have to take care to check the light is really ON for a particular port. Also beware of accidentally pressing the switch if trying to pull out a reluctant connector! The cable is extremely thick (proper USB-3 standard) and unless you anchor the hub somehow it can be swung about by the stiffness of the cable. The cable is also quite short by comparison with some other hubs - but for the price I am NOT complaining! The build quality is excellent. It is plastic, but well manufactured. Everything about it feels high-quality. All the connectors have a good positive feel to them. My overall rating is a firm FIVE stars. Highly Recommended.

**Q: Will this support 10 external 10tb hdd at the same time? hdds are self powwered.**
A: the only real problem is the usb bandwidth.... At present I'm running 7 drives seagates from 8tb to 12tb on one. The transfer speeds even at usb 3 becomes dismally slow, going from a start of 176mbs to about 36mbs. its not the fault of the device, I'm glad I have it its the fact most pc's only have 1 or 2 usb controllers on the motherboards. Well worth having, mine runs a media centre batch of drives.

**Q: Is it suitable for Firefox or is it limited to Chrome & Linux?**
A: This device is a usb hub wich can connect several usb devices to a computer with a usb port. It has the advantage of on/off switches by each connector and blue leds to indicate ones that are 'live'.  What is important is that the device you cvonnect to your computer via this hub is compatible with the PC's operating system.

**Q: Plugged mine in all lights up but no ports work! its on an Imac. says no drivers required so anyone know what might be the issue?**
A: Have you tried pressing the switches beside the sockets? I don'i have an imac.

**Q: Would this hub be able to support 5 x 2tb seagate barracuda fast ssd's? i cant find how much power each ssd draws but i assume its low ..**
A: I have not tried connecting a SSD to my hub, but it did power 2 conventional hard discs without any problems. The hub is mains powered.

Works well with most usb powered devices, including lighting and usb charging. However, not all external hard drives will work if plugged in to this device as they will not be recognised. Not a bad bit of kit. I thought I'd try using one of these because my USB games controller was running slow. I was advised to use one of these as my USB socket wasn't pushing out enough power on my laptop. Easy to set up and there are no issues to report. I am very happy with it's performance and my games controller is running as it should. I used some cable ties to keep it still and it has a power point for my phone to charge. We'll happy
