I was extremely pleased with the original Spartan Mosquito Eradicator. I used it for several years and my entire neighborhood saw my results and all bought it as well. It worked! Last year something changed. It didn't work for me or any of the neighbors. This years product indicates it's only good for 30 days vs. the 90 day previously. WHAT?? Also, it appears you need to use 4 vs. 2. I wish the manufacturer would go back to the original product. As for me and my neighbors...we won't buy again unless it goes back to the original. Don't waste your money on this current product. **Q: How many mosquitoes will it kill?** A: Google "boric acid mosquito" and start reading research papers. It does work, not %100. The typical mix is about 1% boric acid, 10% sugar and a healthy dose of denial about math being easy. What we pay orders of magnitude in margin here for is convenience. This works fine if you are too lazy to buy a 10lb lifetime supply of boric acid and a few plastic containers for $40. **Q: Why are spartan mosquito eradicator maintenance tube advertised elsewhere for up to 90 days protection?** A: The 90 day version has sugar, yeast and salt which produce carbon dioxide to attract the mosquitos like your breath does. The 30 day one has boric acid only which can kill mosquitos once they enter the trap. I wish I knew that this has a different ingredient as the yeast product has worked great for me. I mixed up my own yeast sugar solution from online recipes and I'm just using the tubes for that. Waste of money and misleading to those of us who have used the former Eradicator with great success (for 90 days!) **Q: What are the ingredients?** A: They were on the right track, as sugar and yeast creates carbon dioxide, but for whatever reason the other ingredients just doesn't cut the mustard when killing mosquitoes. My diy mosquito killer is similar, I've tried the sugar/yeast in a 2 liter bottle, but during the height of mosquito season, I turn on my 15lb c02 tank connected to a regulator that dispenses co2 right onto my mosquito zapper. Says 80 feet from the house the closest one is 100 feet from my house and it looks like a swarm of flies going after some rotten food around my head. I think not. So the convienence of the hanging high up over 5 gallon buckets is the extra start.
