Review: A heartwarming and emotional tale about (im)migration. - I purchased this book as part of a graduate literature course, which focuses on picture books and children's literature. This is probably one of the most emotionally gripping tales I've ever read in a children's book. While a child might have a bit of difficulty understanding the underlying messages that are being told, the overall message of the struggles that some people in other places of the world experience, is easy to grasp. I'd recommend this book to anyone wanting to introduce their child to themes in the world to make them more aware of the hardships others might experience in their lives. I'd also recommend people of all ages read this book, as the art style is lovely, and the story is compelling. Took me about 5 minutes to get through, short and sweet. If I could wipe my memory of the book, and buy it again, I would.
Review: Beautiful book. - This book is a beautifully sad story, written in such a way that children can really connect with it. The illustrations are gorgeous and tell so much about the emotions of the characters. My first grade students really connected with the emotions of the family and how it connects to the immigration issues in our own country.

Raw, real, and emotional. Yes, it’s a sad book but it explains the journey of a refugee family in a beautiful way that is easy to understand. My five yr old understands it’s a sad story yet told me it was her favorite book (for now). Highly recommend.
