That strip is attached to the switch. The most simple defect would be if the strip simply fell out of the battery compartment when your clock flipped over. Just open the battery cover, then reinsert the strip between the battery and the contact and that might fix your problem. If not that, then go to the weblink above and try all the other things. For instance, If you remove the strip and reinstall the battery and the clock runs (constantly) then it's a problem with your switch circuit. Otherwise, it's something in the clock motor or the hands are overlapping.
