I also like the 10" length, which is not common anymore. I'm glad to have a handle that will survive the use of the knife. My previous knife, a purchase made in Germany in 1969, was Solingen steel but the handle was wood. I only washed it by hand but, sadly, the handle finally deteriorated beyond repair. The blade is still good, despite having been used to attempt chopping a frozen pkg of vegetables!
