Buy a hydrometer and look at color. If it is brown or black, don't waste your time. Check all cells this way. Also the cells must raise the float the same. Big differences Tell that the Cell is dead, battery is done. **Q: Can I just add** A: It does not work when the battery is dead, the electrodes are bulging, the 12 V becomes less than 11 V. Get a new battery. **Q: Will this work on 8 volt golf cart batteries that are bone dry if I add this and distilled water to them and charge each one separately and then put i** A: I’m not familiar with servicing 8 vt batteries but I seriously doubt it will help. It’s best on new batteries to extend their life. Can also to some extent batteries that with slightly declining power. **Q: will it work on a new battery that has been sitting for a couple years?** A: Yes it will work wonders. I used it on an old battery that had not been used for 5 years and was bone dry. Put new acid in the battery, and then add the desulfater, and slow trickled charge for 1 week.
