This is made so that it will fit at least two different sizes. The way it came, it didn't fit, but I used scissors as instructed to cut one little piece off of it, and it fit perfectly, snapped right into place and worked like a dream. The whole thing (including going and finding a pair of scissors) took less than 5 minutes. That includes reading the instructions, too. Unless your toilet was made in another country, I'd guess there's a 99% chance that this will either fit perfectly as-is, or with a small cut with scissors, will fit perfectly. Pay attention to where the chain from the lever is fastened so you can fasten it back in the same place. **Q: Has anybody used this flapper successfully in modern (1.6 gpf) toilets, or will it only work in old 3.5 gpf toilets?** A: You could try it in a 1.6 GPF toilet...But it works best for 3.5 GPF toilets made before 1994. Fluidmaster labels it as being a universal flapper. That's all I know about it. Other than it has a 5 year warranty. **Q: I release the toilet lever it goes straight to the bottom which means that the tank doesn't fully empty. Its predecessor floated. What's wrong?** A: Some flapper just do this..
