While it does not contain the bells and whistles others may have it does what it is intended. There was a lack of instruction on setting up the belt which came detached from the machine which was a difficult undertaking but nothing unmanageable.I would recommend this for anyone looking to get into throwing pottery. You wont be able to throw huge projects but for a beginner or someone interested in doing regular to small sized projects it will work well.The biggest negative is the size. The machine sits uncomfortably low. I have propped mine up on a short table that allows for using a stool. Cant imagine a comfortable seat to use with this at it's normal height.
