## Questions & Answers

**Q: does it clean beneath bridges**
A: Not having a bridge I can't honestly answer your question but I can attest that it does a terrific job of cleaning between my teeth & my dental checkups have improved since I started using the Hydrofloss.

**Q: Is this as noisy as water pik?**
A: Yes. The way they make the pump is very noisy. I guess using an impeller doesn’t produce enough pressure, so they have to go old school.

**Q: the tips keep popping out when using. Is there a specific way to insert the tips so this won't happen?**
A: This is our second one. We have never had a problem with the tip staying in. Make sure you feel it Clicks when pushing it in. It has to catch on the grove, You need to push pretty firm as it's tight! Hope this helps!

**Q: Does Hydrofloss have a warranty? If yes, how many years does the warranty last?**
A: 1 year full warranty.

Had to replace my old one (and I do mean old) -- lasted forever and excellent product. My dentist recommend and so do I! (exclamation point -- :-)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This machine is worth every penny. (But protect the hose to increase its longevity -- instructions and pictures included.)

Hydro Floss is a mouth-saver. Despite careful oral hygiene, I was diagnosed with gun disease a year and a half ago. A friend bought this machine for me, and it has worked wonders for my gums. My symptoms cleared up within a few months and my gums have improved more over time. One way I know the Hydro Floss does so much for me is that when I took a two-week trip and didn't bring it, even though I used an electric toothbrush and dental floss, my gum health regressed a bit. Even if I take a weekend trip, my gums are often a little more sensitive after missing two days of Hydro flossing. The water flushes out so many food particles from between my gums and teeth, and it feels great afterward. I have at least one concavity below the gum line, which the Hydro Floss keeps clean. I used to use the Hydro Floss before regular flossing and brushing, but then I learned to do the hydro floss last so it can flush away anything loosened by flossing and brushing but left in the teeth and gum-line. I use the Hydro Floss along the gum-line and between the teeth. I go around with the regular tip and then use the pocket pal tip. If you don't have such tips, you can buy pocket pal tips here: Hydrofloss "Pocket Pal" Jet Tips, or you can get sulcus jet tips here:Hydro Floss Sulcus Jet TipsTHOUGHTS FROM MY EXPERIENCE---Using just one tank of water goes a long way. The directions say to use two full tanks, but I gave up on that after a short while and just use one a night.---Take out the tip right after flossing. Then, before putting it in when you floss again, put the handle under a running tap to moisten the rubber gasket ring. That helps the tips go in and out easily. Otherwise it can be murder to pull them off, and I've broken a couple. It took me a while to figure that system out.---Also, I've never replaced tips because of age (except once on a small tip, maybe?) and I've never cleaned the machine by running bleach water through or anything. I've never noticed any problems, except a little buildup around the plastic edges of the tank, which are easily cleaned externally. So, as far as I can see, the machine manages fine low maintenance.---Add protection around the base of your hose!PROTECTING YOUR HOSESome other reviewers (on a different hydro floss page) have said that their hose sprung a leak after a 2-4 years of use (if more than one person uses the machine, probably sooner). The leak is right where the hose exits the machine. The vibration of the machine makes the hose rub and eventually wear through. I checked my hose and sure enough I could see and feel where the hose had a groove worn into it from the edge of the plastic thing that angles the hose as it exits. The hose also seemed a bit stressed right where it bent 90 degrees coming out. Some folks have just slid some flexible plastic or rubber tubing around base of the hose, but I didn't have any available and I wanted to make sure I protected the hose everywhere it needed it. So, I opened the machine up, got rid of the little plastic piece that bends the hose and then wrapped electrical tape around the base of the hose. I think this will work even better than other fixes because the hose isn't even bent or cramped anymore. Here's how to do what I did (see my pictures to guide you, if needed):1. Take the water reservoir off and then drain the hose of water. (Don't worry about getting all the water out. It's not a big deal.). Then set the water pressure dial to 5 (or whatever represents 12 o'clock -- straight up -- on the face of your dial).2. Flip the base over and unscrew the four screws recessed into the base. They should be readily visible. Then, separate the top and bottom pieces of the base. Make sure you keep track of the four base screws. At this point, note the position of the power cord, you'll just want to make sure it goes back in the same position later, particularly note how it loops over the screw hole and exits the back of the base (if yours is like mine).3. At this point, you can also remove the two plastic dial knobs for the on/off and water pressure. Take note of what position they're in since you will want to put them back in the same position if you want everything to line up properly with the numbers on the external housing. This isn't very hard, but it's the one tricky part in this process. You will also probably want to take out the plastic piece that directs the tubing as it leaves the housing. That is what causes people's hoses to leak and it's completely unnecessary to have, unless you're really OCD about the cord (I was when I first got the machine but got over that very quickly). I didn't have room for that piece after taping my hose anyway.3. Unscrew the two screws attaching the motor housing to the base. These, too, are unmistakable and very easily accessed. Separate the motor from the white plastic base, and set the plastic base aside.4. You are now ready to protect your hosing. I used electrical tape, looping it a number of times to give a thick layer of tape around the base of the hose. If you want to fit some other piece of flexible tubing around it, that would work well, too.5. Reattach the motor to the white base with the two small screws. Put the power cord back in its place, looped over the screw hole and exiting properly. Then put the dials back into their slots. You can easily test the on/off switch by turning the dial so that it clicks the motor on and off (I did this without plugging it in, so the motor didn't actually turn on.) The pressure dial is easier to check after slipping the top plastic casing piece on. So after putting the dials in, put the top on without screwing it and check the dials. Remove the lid and readjust them if necessary. When they're adjusted properly, screw the four base screws in.6. Plug the machine in, fill the reservoir, and test. Mine worked fine, and I can't imagine that there's much of any concerns that anyone's won't. The fix is actually very simple, even if I didn't make it sound simple. See the pictures below for more of an idea.I hope this review saves some folks a hundred buck every so often replacing their machine. I'm thankful for the review I read that alerted me to the problem, and I thought I'd detail a way to fix it. If you don't want to dig into the machine at all. You might try squeezing a few drops of wood glue or gorilla glue into where the plastic piece directs the tubing out of the machine. When it dries, the glue should protect the hose from rubbing and even keep it from vibrating as much. However, if you ever do have a need to open the machine, you will have one spot glued down, and you may crack the plastic trying to separate it.If you know of another way to protect the hose, comment below to give folks more ideas.
