They ended up quickly giving me a refund. I would give them 5 stars for that. However, I did find a second cracking tool that had the same problem. I'm guessing there is a manufacturing problem which needs to be fixed. I repaired the units I have by using epoxy to hold the hinge pin together. I'll keep an eye on the other two crackers I have and will repair if needed. I advise other owners to do the same.I bought 4 of these. We've had them since November, and probably used twice. One of the cracking tools fell apart. It uses a two piece rivet as the hinge pin. One of the two pieces fell out, so now the remaining part of the pin does not stay in. It's a good thing no one ingested the pin (that I know of).I looked on the product page and there is no way of contacting the manufacturer. Feels like metal, behaves like plastic. I don't know if the butter thing is OK to put in a microwave. Not going to test it to find out... The crackers slip a lot because of the polish on them.
