I have an 11 month old (1/2) Rottweiller (1/4) Sharpei (1/4) Boxer mix that has been through basic training manners class so she knows some basic commands and does them well, but she is so friendly and excitable that she never mastered not jumping up to greet people or to walk outdoors on a leash without dragging me behind. She weighs 65 lbs and is strong as an Ox -that's small compared to her 140lb daddy. I have tried other no-pull harnesses that helped to keep her from dragging me on our walks and they helped to a point, but this Easy Walk Harness changed not only her walking issue, and her jumping to greet people issue, but also seems to have actually calmed her down. Perhaps the position of the straps work similar to a storm jacket that we use for our lightening phobic mini schnauzer...I don't know. But I do know that since putting this harness on her she has calmed down, only attempted to jump on one person and when I gave a gentle pull on the leash and told her "off" and she stopped! That was a first for her. I have taken her in public with lots of distractions to grab her attention and she has not lost her manners once. We even went into a business yesterday and the business owner commented what a gentle big dog she was, as she layed out in the middle of his showroom floor.When walking if she pulls away from me the harness stops her and sends her chest back my direction where it should be when I am verbally correcting her behavior. I love it!Sizing: when I first bought it I got the med/lrg size but quickly discovered the adjustments had to be all the way out to just get it on her. I returned it for the large and now we are adjusted all the way in, but she is only 11 months old so she will still be growing, and this harness has room for that growth.Putting it on...that was not fun the first time. She doesn't like being tied down and apparently she thoughts that's what I was doing. The colors of the different straps made it easier than other strap harnesses to put on, but making the adjustments while wearing it freaked her out. My advice is to use a cloth measuring tape to measure the areas where the straps will rest, then making the adjustments to the harness with those measurements before putting it in the dog. That worked for me. The small adjustments had to be made later in the day when I could distract her with peanut butter smeared on the coffee table. She didn't want me touching her anywhere the harness was, she was mad about it and would either run from me or act like she wanted to bite me..she didn't of course, but she let me know she didn't like it one bit. After about a week of wearing it, and me always giving her loving rubs under the harness she finally decided it wasn't so bad and now I can make adjustments as needed without an issue from her.It's a little awkward for me to have her leash hooked at the chest, especially since she tends to walk ahead of me, but she doesn't seem to mind at all now. I keep checking for irritation from the harness under her arms, but the area seems fine.I love this harness, and my new gentle girl, so much that I bought a backup incase something should happen to this one, like she eats through it (she is still a rambunctious pup) or I forget it somewhere while away from home...who knows, but I don't want to be without one now. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My dogs don't notice it's there *by D***T on Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2015* My 51lb border collie needed a medium/large, but I'm keeping the medium because it fits my pointer puppy. When she is grown I'll be buying a third of this exact brand and style because they're just that great. Despite my efforts to condition them to the head collar, they still find it incredibly annoying and ask me to take it off the whole walk. I guess that makes sense- who would want a strap around your nose for a half hour? My pointer doesn't even notice this harness. Plus, now she can indulge her breed by alternating sniffing the ground and the air and just all around enjoying the experience of the walk instead of keeping her head straight the whole time. I think the headcollar rubbed her nose when she moved her head that much so she just decided to heel the whole time without me asking. The border collie is pickier in general and she does notice it before we leave and sometimes will try to take it off. But once we leave the house she completely forgets it's there- unlike the headcollar. So I just try to put it on her right before we leave the house and all problems are solved. They both enjoy walks much more now than with the head collar.Someone said the buckle caused bruising. I guess that's an individual problem depending on your dog's body. Neither of mine have had that problem. I would say to always pay attention to your dogs body language. You don't want to miss them telling you that something is hurting them.Also, this won't magically stop pulling. Nothing with dogs is ever instant. Everything takes time and patience just like with kids. If you do get instant results with this- meaning your dog stops pulling right away when in this harness- make sure to reinforce that! Bring treats on your walks and reinforce proper walking when it happens. Otherwise, those results can fade away and your dog can learn to ignore the pressure of the Martingale loop and start pulling again. Offer praise and positive attention and treats to reinforce when you dog does the right thing. If your dog has always leaped at squirrels and one day he looks at the squirrel and wants to chase it but stops himself give a jackpot reward that will make him remember that behavior. Then keep reinforcing it each time it happens with small things. If your dog never doesn't leap, try to intervene before the bad behavior happens. Create a distraction by doing something goofy/interesting and if you dog turns his head to you, treat him. Luring into the behavior that you want is ok in the beginning. You CAN get a piece of chicken and lure your dog to ignore the squirrel if he's never left a squirrel alone in his life. Then keep training and reinforcing non-chasing and non-pulling behaviors. You probably shouldn't lure if your dog can already not chase. In that case you want to keep the treats hidden until after your dog does the good thing- then surprise.Both of my dogs had to be taught how to walk on a leash on their own first. But when trying to walk them together, they forgot everything they'd learned. That's when I tried the head collars, but they just never could get used to them. These solved the problem! But I still bring treats on all our walks to reinforce both dogs for their proper behavior. Otherwise they would probably revert to pulling. But they're learning fast and I probably won't need these harnesses at all soon. They're nearly able to walk together with regular collars without pulling or chasing.
