My new puppy has not learned how to consistently walk beside me when he's on his leash. With this leash, I can give a slight tug, the dog feels it, but it springs right back giving a gentler tug than an ordinary leash. My puppy chewed on the duct tape(?) that holds the two cords together, but a spray of Bitter Apple cured him of that. It's longer than I want for puppy walking, but I just wrap the end I hold to shorten it. The one change I would make is to make the metal clasp that attaches to the collar or harness easier to open. It only opens about a quarter on an inch so you have to have it in just the right position to take it off. The first time was at a Woofstock event in Texas. We have 2 Italian Greyhounds who weigh 17 lbs, but pull like they weigh 90 lbs! I was walking them on retractable leashes, but after getting them wrapped around my leg and suffering a painful leash burn, I decided to try something different. I like these leashes because they are more forgiving than a regular leash. My guys can walk ahead of me and not get as choked as they used too. Also, the bright colors make them fun to walk with! The first one I bought was white/orange and the second was teal/blue...very pretty! Even though my dogs only weight 17lbs, I bought the 45lb 6 ft leash. I like how sturdy they feel.
