Set the time use the up and down arrows and it's got a battery backup too. Just replaced an 80 year old woman's programmable with this. She could not believe how easy it was to set and use. Just know that u can't put your own times in. There are 3 time ranges and a countdown mode . That's the beauty of this timer.
