All it takes is a few sit downs and stand up and the back part is tucked in between the seat and back cushions and totally off of the back and lying up against someone's neck. It does seem to make tearing sounds as I pull it back out of the cushions to throw it back over the back of the couch so I am extra careful so as not to rip the seams or the material.
