Best of all though is the combination of original compositions which are based on the particular thing being taught--you can hear these on the separately sold cd--which starts the tune with the rhythm section and then drops out the piano part to let you play. The charts are easy to read, and Baerman provides just enough explanation--not too much and not too little. In other words, it's a perfect mix of explanation/theory, practice, and playing. Review: A Must Have with the Book - I bought the book without the CD years ago and never improved my jazz skills with the book alone. I lost interest and stopped trying. I recently bought the CD because of my increased interest in jazz keyboard and what a difference in understanding the instruction!
