## Description

The ScanSnap SV600 is an overhead style contactless scanner that provides a new perspective on document scanning. Unlike the typical scanner, you can easily scan newspapers, magazines, books or documents of up to 30mm thick directly with the overhead LED, without cutting or damaging them. You can scan a document larger than A4 size by simply positioning it on the A3 scan mat and pressing the scan button. Review: Fantastic for my specific use case - I am using this scanner for something it was probably not targeted for, scanning graded comics and trading cards encapsulated in plastic holders. The CCD optics is the same technology as older flatbed scanners that provide a clear scan despite the reflective cases. Modern flatbed scanners provide blurry images. This is expensive but perfect for my needs to catalog my collection and list for resale. Easy to use and works with latest version of MacOS. I went with this over the no name Chinese versions being sold on desertcart. Quality build and believe it will last a long time.

I have to keep rotating items with lots of black in them to see if it will scan it properly. It also doesn’t scan photos that are matted or antique cabinet cards that are glued onto cardboard with a wide border showing. It will scan the photo but not the matted or cardboard area it is attached to. If there is a solution to this I haven’t been able to figure it out.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the most disappointing feature about this scanner?**
A: I'm not sure what the "librarians are women part" was about but it was stupid. Next, this scanner exports in JPEG or PDF which can be processed with the software you mention. I have Fujitsu Twain compliant software in my FI7160 and the truth is for book scanning the SV600 software is better than any open source software I've used. Please tell me what software you are thinking about. I've used Czur Twain compliant software as well as BookSorber, both of which are far worse.

**Q: Can i use ocr with this scan?**
A: Yes you can and it's easy to run OCR.

**Q: Is this scanner compatible with Windows 10?  Is there a warranty included with the scanner?**
A: It works great with Windows 10.  We’ve been using this to scan for several months and have scanned several large books completely with no issues.  The is the 3rd Fujitsu scanner I’ve purchased. Great experience and never had to think about the warranty. These scanners just work.

**Q: Will it crop an image that is larger than the scan area? I have maps and am willing to scan in portions.**
A: Yes, it will crop anything outside the scan area.
