The "recharging station" to which your question refers acts as a friction to activate the carbon molecules in the pads. From information I have seen, they do not need replacement. I purchased this kit to replace those pads. They fit, work well, and I'm happy to report that good news. The not-so-great news is that while removing the old pads I nearly broke the plastic housing and mounting areas.
