I just wanted a really simple homeschool experiment.** A: No incubator necessary. The warmer the place, up to 98 F, the faster the growth. Room temp can even get some good growth after 3 days. Just speaking from personal experience growing bacteria with homeschoolers and working in the lab. **Q: How would you properly dispose this?** A: Wow, some of these responses. First, yes they will continue to grow bacteria, and can and will contaminate the area they are disposed. Soak them in bleach or alcohol. This will kill the bacteria and then they are safe to discard. Just throwing them away is extremely dangerous. And you shouldn't ever just toss them! **Q: How many plates does it have?** A: 10 **Q: How do you prepare the petri dishes if you dont have the instructions ?** A: The petri dishes come prepared with the agar (the yellowish gel in the picture). I kept them in the refrigerator until ready to use.
